I've spent almost four decades working with horses across five continents. My career began in the Netherlands, where I taught at an equine college and trained instructors for the Dutch Equestrian Federation. Since then, I've worked with horses and horse people in the United States, Argentina, Belgium, China, and New Zealand. Everything I do—from education to writing to consulting—comes back to helping people see horses more clearly.

I've learned one thing over and over: good horsemanship is universal. It starts with observation, respect, and a willingness to listen.

Supporting the people behind the horses

I founded HorseGrooms because equine welfare starts with the people caring for horses every day. The grooms who show up, who notice the small things, who keep horsemanship alive—they need a community that supports them.

HorseGrooms is a global community where grooms share knowledge, celebrate their craft, and find support. We elevate the profession through interviews, guides, events, and mentorship, knowing that when we support grooms, we support the horses in their care.

Helping horse owners become true advocates for their horses

HorseCare101 is an educational platform that brings together decades of hands-on experience to help you understand your horse better physically, mentally, and emotionally. You'll learn to pay closer attention to the subtle cues your horse gives, helping you sense early changes and respond in a way that supports their wellbeing.

Learn more

I work with equestrian organizations, events, brands, and publications in both English and Dutch. I write press releases, feature articles, interviews, and educational content that honors authentic stories and shares valuable insights.

I also collaborate with riding schools, colleges, and stables on horse care education, stable management training, and welfare programming. My approach draws from global methods, new research, practical experience, and cultural understanding.

Whether I'm writing for an international audience or consulting on curriculum development, my goal is always the same: to bridge knowledge and empathy, helping humans and horses thrive together.

I'm where I am today because I kept saying yes to learning, yes to working abroad, yes to asking hard questions about equine welfare, yes to the horses who taught me more than any book could.

Now I share what I've learned with people who are committed to understanding their horses better, though this work doesn't have a finish line. It's about learning to see what your horse needs, asking better questions, calling in backup when you need it, and making more informed decisions over time.

I kept saying yes

What I've Learned Along the Way

Each place I've worked taught me something new about horses, about people, and about perspective. I learned that caring for horses in a high-performance environment looks different from caring for them through a harsh winter. Different climates, different disciplines, different resources—all require different approaches. But the common thread is always putting the horse's needs first.

This understanding guides my work now. Whether I'm developing educational resources, writing for a global audience, or helping equestrian teams refine their practices, I ask the same questions: What does the horse need? How can we help people see that more clearly?
